The telegram Rabbi Wolf sent accepting a position at Temple Beth El in Corpus Christi

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times piece that names Rabbi Wolf one of the top newsmakers of the century is online. My mom wrote the paper a letter. The piece has a nice photograph of him, and there are two beautiful photographs at Hollace Weiner's Jewish Stars of Texas site. Weiner has kindly allowed me to post her essay on my grandfather in The Quiet Voices: Southern Rabbis, Black Civil Rights, 1880s to 1990s. Helen Wilk, the Temple Beth El historian who I quote in the essay, authored his entry in the Handbook of Texas.

Ian Frazier wrote a beautiful piece on Martin Tytell for the Atlantic Monthly. (You can also find Harvey Cox's essay on that site.) For more on manual typewriters, check out Richard Polt's excellent typewriter site at Xavier, and read his essay "A Phenomenology of Early Typewriters." This site includes "A Brief History of Typewriters", a special page for Remington portables, typewriter classifieds, tips on basic typewriter restoration, and a list of typewriter repair shops.

My other grandfather, Sol A. Shenk, got some press in his time. Here are a few pieces on him: his obituary in The New York Times, a profile in Forbes, and the Times report on his biggest deal—when he bought out John DeLorean.
