My "private practice" as a writing teacher began years ago with requests from former students, who wanted help here and there with book proposals, company presentations -- even, in one case, an especially important family letter. When I can find time, I like this work because it's possible to make quick & powerful progress. If you're interested, I'll begin by just asking: What's your goal? What do you want to get out of this? Or put another way: What's the problem you feel obliged to fix? Sometimes this takes a bit of discussion to ferret out, which is no trouble. But consider the questions in advance. Then, for our first meeting, I'll ask you to show me something on paper -- if you haven't anything, I'll give you a specific prompt to begin -- and we'll proceed from there. Typically, I do this work on the phone. This makes scheduling easy, and it helps both of us tune out ambient stimuli and focus on ideas and language and voice and tone. If you want to know my fees, or ask any other questions, please email me. Thanks for reading. Josh |
